From training to boating

You have your PB2. What happens next?

Passing your Powerboat Level 2 is a great start. But becoming a confident boater comes from actually getting out on the water.

Buying a boat is a big step. There is the purchase price, marina berth, maintenance, servicing, insurance, depreciation and the simple question of whether you will use it enough to justify it.

Powerboat Club offers another route.

You get regular access to quality powerboats from our base in Poole, together with the support, equipment and continued training that help turn a qualification into genuine boating experience.

For the 2027 season, we’re making that route easier for just eight former Get Lost Powerboat Training students.

The introductory membership

Try Powerboat Club for one full boating season

Rather than committing immediately to our normal £9,000 annual membership, former students can join us for six months from 1 March 2027 for £6,000.

Six months of membership

Your introductory membership runs through the main boating season, beginning on 1 March 2027.

Your PB2 counts

The amount you paid Get Lost Powerboat Training for your Powerboat Level 2 course is deducted from your joining fee.

No obligation after six months

At the end of the introductory membership you can simply leave, or move onto our standard annual membership.

More than access to a boat

Everything you need to start boating regularly

Powerboat Club is designed to remove much of the cost, administration and hassle of owning your own boat while helping you gain real experience on the water.

Boat access

Use club boats from our Poole base without needing to buy, berth, service or maintain a boat of your own.

Introductory training included

All of the normal introductory training included with membership remains part of this offer, helping you become comfortable with the club, the boats and local cruising.

Keep building experience

Your PB2 was the beginning. Club membership gives you the opportunity to practise boat handling, navigation and passage making throughout the season.

Support when you need it

You’re joining a boating club rather than simply hiring a boat. We’re here to help you become a safer, more capable and more adventurous boater.

  • Lifejackets and foul-weather equipment available for members
  • Free parking and berth-holder facilities at Cobbs Quay
  • 10% fuel discount at Cobbs Quay
  • Ongoing training opportunities and chaperoned club trips
  • Club social events and member experiences
  • Member benefits with selected local partners
Why we’re offering it to you

We already know who we’d like our next members to be.

Rather than simply advertise these memberships to the general public, we’d rather offer them first to people we’ve already taught.

You’ve trained with Get Lost Powerboat Training. You know how we work, and we already know that you’re interested enough in boating to have completed your PB2.

That makes former students a natural fit for Powerboat Club.

And your previous training has value

If you take one of the introductory memberships, we’ll deduct the amount you previously paid us for your PB2 course from the normal joining fee.

You have already taken the first step with us. We don’t think you should have to pay for that part twice.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why is the introductory membership six months?

We want former students to be able to experience Powerboat Club through the main boating season without asking them to commit to a full annual membership from day one.

When does my membership begin?

The introductory six-month membership begins on 1 March 2027.

If I reserve now, do I have to pay the £6,000 now?

No. To secure your place now, you pay the joining fee less the cost of the PB2 course you previously completed with Get Lost Powerboat Training. Your membership itself does not begin until 1 March.

Is the joining fee refundable?

No. If you choose to secure one of the eight introductory memberships, the joining fee is non-refundable. This remains the case if you later decide not to begin your membership.

How do I claim my £349 former-student credit?

When you secure your introductory membership, enter coupon code PB2STUDENT349 at checkout. This reduces the normal £1,600 joining fee by £349, meaning you pay £1,251 to secure your place. The joining fee is non-refundable once your membership place has been reserved.

Is the £1,500 security deposit refundable?

Yes. The security deposit is refundable when you leave, subject to the normal membership terms and any properly due deductions such as damage or other liabilities.

What happens after my six months?

You choose. You can leave Powerboat Club and have your refundable security deposit returned subject to the normal terms, or move onto our standard annual membership.

Am I committed to annual membership afterwards?

No. There is no obligation to continue beyond the six-month introductory membership.

Does registering my interest reserve a place?

No. Registering interest simply asks us to contact you in February. If all eight memberships have already been reserved by then, this introductory offer will no longer be available.

Can I bring family or friends?

Yes, subject to the normal club membership terms and safe operating limits for the boat you are using.

Where is Powerboat Club based?

Powerboat Club operates from Cobbs Quay Marina in Poole, giving members direct access to Poole Harbour, Poole Bay and the wider Dorset and Solent cruising area.

Your next step

You learned to drive the boat. Now make boating part of your summer.

There are only eight introductory memberships available to former students for the 2027 season.

Securing a membership requires payment of the non-refundable joining fee, less your qualifying PB2 course fee. Registering interest does not reserve a membership.
